Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about driving for PHF Holdings

Is PHF Holdings part of FedEx?

No. PHF Holdings, Inc. is an independently owned company that contracts with FedEx Ground to deliver and pick up packages. You'd be hired by PHF, work for PHF, and be paid by PHF — driving routes we operate under contract with FedEx Ground.

Do I need a CDL?

No. Our step vans don't require a commercial driver's license — a regular driver's license with a clean record is what we need, plus a DOT physical and drug screen that we arrange for you.

Where would I report to work?

Fletcher drivers report to the FedEx terminal near the Asheville airport. Matthews routes dispatch from the terminal in Monroe.

What time does the day start and end?

Drivers report to the terminal at 8:00 a.m., and routes typically take about 8 hours to complete. Your day ends when your route is done — efficient drivers finish sooner.

What does it pay?

$150–$200 per day, paid weekly, plus a performance bonus based on service quality and efficiency. Health, dental, and vision insurance are offered, along with paid company holidays and an annual PTO program after your first anniversary.

Is training paid?

Yes — training days are paid at $100/day, and you'll also do a ride-along day before you commit, so you can see the real job before taking it.

Are vehicles provided?

Yes — you drive a company step van that we maintain and track. We also have a program where drivers can use their personal vehicles to deliver packages, if that suits you better — those deliveries pay $2.00 per stop.

How physically demanding is it?

It's honest, active work. You're in and out of the truck 80–120 times a day, handling packages up to 75 pounds, in whatever weather North Carolina serves up. Drivers who like moving, being outdoors, and running their own day tend to love it; it's not a desk job and doesn't pretend to be.

How much driving experience do I need?

No delivery experience required — we train you. You need to be at least 21 with a clean driving record.

Will I have a permanent route?

That's the goal. New drivers start on denser, easier routes and move toward a permanent assignment as skills and local knowledge grow — a route you own, in a neighborhood that knows you.

Are weekends required?

Depends on the terminal: Fletcher runs Monday through Saturday, and Matthews runs seven days a week. Most drivers work some weekend days, but schedules are consistent with guaranteed days off — you can plan a life around it.

Do you hire part-time or weekend drivers?

Yes — we hire part-time and weekend drivers at both terminals. Tell Rob what schedule you're looking for when you reach out.

Can I apply for a specific location?

Yes, please do — just say Fletcher or Matthews when you email.

How quickly will I hear back?

We're a small company and read every application — you'll normally hear from us within a few business days.

What if I need an accommodation to apply?

Email rob.phfholdings@gmail.com and tell us what you need — we'll work with you through the application process.
